EXPERIENCE

2015 iBLEND Scholar
Participated in the Integrative Biomathematics Learning and Engagement Network for Diversity (iBLEND) project at North Carolina A&T State University which prepares students for graduate study at the interface of biology and mathematics.

2015 Emerging Researchers Nation Conference in STEM
Attended and presented research at the (ERN) in Washington, D.C. The ERN conference is hosted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Education and Human Resources Programs (EHR) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Human Resource Development (HRD), within the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR). The conference is aimed at institutions like North Carolina A&T State University, which participates in programs funded by the NSF HRD Unit, including underrepresented minorities. Through presentation I developed a deeper understanding of research, essential presentation and critical reflection.

2014 NCLSAMPGMUS Undergraduate Research Conference
Attended North Carolina Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NCLSAMP) conference. Through presentation I developed a deeper understanding of research, essential presentation and critical reflection.

2014 AGMUS Research Symposium
Attended symposium implemented under the Student Research Development Center (SRDC), which is part of the Vice Presidency for Planning and Academic Affairs of the Ana G. Méndez University System (AGMUS). Presented my research experience on, “3D Printing Biomimetic in vitro Bone Model for Breast Cancer Bone Metastasis”.

2014 NDDK Step Up Fellow
Completed 10 weeks of a summer research experience in the lab at The George Washington University. Professional development interactive activities on-line and in the research laboratory. Developed abstracts, and presented research posters. Attended annual undergraduate STEP-UP Research Symposium.

Bluford Leadership Institute Scholar 2014
Completed 2 week prestigious, intense professional development program designed to expose minority scholars with exceptional leadership potential to today’s challenging healthcare landscape.
Maryland Hospital Association 2015
Completed 10 weeks of leadership development under Carmela Coyle, president of MHA. This was an intense professional development program designed to expose minority scholars with exceptional leadership potential to today’s challenging healthcare landscape, as well as, exposure to leaders in the state of Maryland.

§ I work as a lab assistant under the supervision of Dr. Checo Rorie. Our current research project is "Investigating miRNA in Triple Negative Breast Cancer Cell Lines."
