Major: Biology

Short Bio:

From a very young age, I have been highly intrigued by scientific discovery. Throughout my undergraduate career at North Carolina A&T State University, I have been involved in several research experiences that have influenced me to pursue a career in biomedical research, eventually leading to a career in academia. My experiences relating to cancer research and health disparities have directly influenced me to focus on this area in graduate school because cancer remains a devastating health problem among minority populations. Further understanding of all mechanisms of cancer is necessary in order to develop better treatment methods and improve patient care in the future.

As I continue my training as a scientific researcher, my goals are to add to the current literature and further shape my problem-solving skills as a scientist. Eventually, I would like to conduct research in an academic setting, which will also allow me to teach and mentor students.
